Friday Directions to NC A&T State University/ConvergeSouth

Like most Universities, parking is a problem at NC A&T State University when school is in session. On Friday, October 1, ConvergeSouth will run a shuttle from downtown Greensboro to the conference venue and back. This is the van schedule and locations:

Van To ConvergeSouth

Beginning at 7:45 a.m. and ending at 9:00 a.m., a van will pick up ConvergeSouth attendees at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Greensboro, stop at the parking deck at the intersection of Greene and Washington Streets, and deliver everyone to the ConvergeSouth conference venue.

Van Return from ConvergeSouth

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 6:45 p.m., a van will pick up ConvergeSouth attendees at the conference venue and return to both stops: the parking garage at Greene and Washington and at the Marriott Hotel.

If you must drive, please note the following:

• Campus police will ticket or tow all cars without proper A&T credentials.
• Any car parked in a “reserved” space is almost guaranteed to be the first towed.
• Anyone requiring a handicapped placard must contact A&T at least 10 days prior and remember that handicapped accessible spaces cannot be reserved. They are on a first-come, first-served basis.
• The Luther Lot (Click here for a full-page map of the NC A&T State University campus in PDF format)  is usually available if you arrive early (before the 8 a.m. students arrive).
• NC A&T State University has a for-pay parking garage [PDF]. You can use it for the conference.
• There is no means to reserve a large block of parking spaces for ConvergeSouth.
• Our advice: park in a downtown public parking garage and take the van. Carpool. Consider being dropped off by a friend or family member. Use the for-pay parking garage at the University.

Saturday Directions

Parking is wide-open on Saturday, October 2, at NC A&T State University and ConvergeSouth will not run a shuttle van. If you are staying at a hotel downtown, make arrangements with other ConvergeSouthers to carpool you from the hotel to the venue. We do this all the time and we will also announce this during the conference. Be prepared to exchange contact information. This is just one example of our southern hospitality.

Saturday Barbecue

The traditional Saturday ConvergeSouth Community Barbecue is located once again at the home and neighborhood of David and Jinni Hoggard and their family. If you are staying in a hotel, make arrangements with a ConvergeSouther who will be thrilled to drive you to and from the barbecue (which you don’t want to miss!). We’ll have southern BBQ, Kentucky-style, and vegetarian options. We hope to have various Craft Beer choices as well as soft drinks and water. And we’ll feed you some of the best banana pudding ever.

The barbecue starts approximately 6:30 and ends when you’re done. FAMILIES ARE INVITED.
